Designer from the «lzmash» V. Slronsky has developed the SV-98 sniper rifle derived Irom the «Rekord» sport rifle chambered for the 7.62×54R-sniper 7N1 or sport «Exfra»
cartridges.
The free sliding barrel was produced via cold forging and underwent honing and to enhance consistency of fire its tube was not chromed. The longitudinally sliding rotating bolt features three locking lugs and a down¬ward deflected operating handle. The increas¬ing of the trigger force pull is being adjusted within 1.5-2 kgf. The thumb safety lever is located behind the bolt handle and locks the sear, trigger, and the bolt.
The rifle is fed from a 10-round remov¬able dual-row box magazine that is not pro¬truding from its seat. During its mounting a special vertical rod fixes the magazine’s cor¬rect position.
The bracket of the optical sight is mount¬ed on the receiver. The main sight is a pan-cratic 1P69 type 3-10×42 sight, the X7-PKS-07 sight may be also mounted. There are also available mechanical sighting aids. Ten-shot series fired at a range of 300 meters results in 5-7 cm deflection hit.

The butt is made from pressed plywood or polyamide and armored glass fibre. The butt is adjusted in cross (within 20 mm), the «cheek» (ridge) and buttplate are adjusted in vertical and cross direction. The regulated in vertical direction a bipod is located in front of the fore grip and in a marching position it is arranged in the forearm. The PBS (silencer) of increased expansion may be also attached to the muzzle. There is a carrying handle located on the butt in order to prevent the shooter from grasping the sight on the march or during changing fire positions.
The PMS of extended type may be also attached. In an effort to protect the field of vision from the heat «mirage» or optical illu¬sion, the wide nylon belt over the barrel and a special visor over the PBS silencer may be arranged. There may be available export ver¬sions of the rifle chambered for the 7.62×51 (.308 «winchester») and .338 «lapua mag¬num- with a stepped plate Vivera on the upper part of the receiver.
