PP-93 submachine guns

The forced insufficient ergonomics of this weapon made its developers to create a more simple, unfolded, but more easy to handle version. The primary thrust of the development resulted in advent of the PP-93 small submachine gun with folded stock. In 1944 the Kovrov Mechanical Plant (KMZ) was responsible for its production.
The way of its autonomic operation and firing mechanism bear strong resemblance to that of the PP-90. The thumb safety-selector in its middle position locks the sear of the firing mechanism while its rear position indicates a single mode of fire and its forward position indicates continuous (automatic) mode of fire.

There is an automatic safety device (interceptor) which prevents an accidental cocking of the bolt and subsequent shot in case of the weapon’s drop. Its operating handle constitutes a moving piece located in a fore part of the receiver which is being retained during the fire by a spring actuat¬ed latch and remains stationary. While fire is being delivered with bursts at a range of 25 meters from unstable postures the bul¬lets go into a breast-size target.
Magazine is inserted in the opening of a pistol grip with plates made from the strike-proof plastic material. The very absence of a fore grip hampers the weapon handling. So it is more preferable to hold this subma¬chine gun with both hands like a pistol. To this effect its extended trigger guard fea¬tures a front expanded bend.
The PP-93 can be carried in its holster under the cloths or on the waist belt.
