Pya Yariggin pistol

In 1993 under the terms of the contest on the project «Gratch» was included the locally developed cartridge 7N21 of 9×19 type with a bullet of increased penetration capacity weighing 5.1 g and capable to penetrate at a range of 10 meters a 7 mm steel plate. Developers of experimental versions of the Izhevsk mechanical plant and the TsNIITOCHMASH were capable of outstripping their contenders. In 1995 they managed to reach the Army tests. In 2003 the Izhevsk version under the designation PJa («Yariggin pistol”, Index 6P35) was adopted for service.
The Yariggin pistol operates on the blowback principle of a short barrel-slide free motion and locking of the bore is assured by the slide skewing into the ejection port due to the interaction between a cam groove of a lower lug of the slide and the pin of its latch. The barrel-slide is made via method of cold forging. The receiver is made of steel.
The firing mechanism features a half-enclosed hammer, helical mainspring and self-cocking mode of fire. Two-sided thumb safety locks a sear, trigger, ham¬mer, and slide. Sighting aids may be fit¬ted with white insertions for fire at twi¬light. Radius of dispersion at a range of 25 meters is 13 cm. Magazine is of a dual-row type, a button type magazine latch may be rearranged from its left to the right side of the receiver. By pressing on a latch the magazine drops down. The pistol can fire the 7N21 rounds of enhanced penetration capability as well as standard 9×19 «luger» («para bellum») cartridges.
There is a modification of the 6P35-02 with a plastic receiver which bears resem¬blance to the «Viking» pistol.
